Abstract
MIRANDA, Roberto José María Casas; VALENZUELA, Jorge Santiago Nolasco and SANCHEZ, Iván Crispín. Microsoft Teams for strengthening digital skills in teaching web development: a university perspective. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.1, e501016. Epub Nov 18, 2024. The following research aimed to analyze how the implementation of Microsoft Teams influences the strengthening of digital competencies in university students within the context of a web development course at a national university in 2021. A quantitative applied study was conducted, employing a quasi-experimental design with a causal correlational scope. Pre and post-tests were administered to both a control and an experimental group to assess the effect of Microsoft Teams on digital competencies. The sample consisted of 200 intentionally selected university students who responded to a 21-item Likert scale questionnaire, and the data were processed using Excel and SPSS (v26). The analysis demonstrated that 100% of students in both groups exhibited similar conditions regarding digital competencies, with no significant differences. Following the utilization of Microsoft Teams, it was observed that in the control group, 30% reached the levels of beginning, process, and achieved, respectively, while 10% reached the distinguished level. In the experimental group, 35% reached the achieved level and 25% reached the distinguished level. Additionally, a calculated t-value of -11.128 was found, with df=20.178, and a p-value less than 0.05, indicating significant differences between the groups in the post-test and confirming that the use of Microsoft Teams enables the development of digital competencies in university students.
