Digital competence (DC) seen from the technological skills of teachers and students requires an analysis that addresses the corresponding didactic processes. The aim of the research was to analyze the literature on digital competence in the development of learning, both in teachers and students in the knowledge age. The approach is qualitative of documentary review, in order to analyze the theoretical contributions of the literature review, to outline the weaknesses and propose tangible improvements in the work of the learning process through digital elements. It is concluded that every educational institution must promote the reorganization of its educational structures at the university level and according to technological advances. Digital culture requires the promotion of more demanding instructions to train students and teachers in creativity, reflection and research. There is a demand for innovative teachers, committed to continuous learning to design environments oriented towards criticism, reflection and the construction of continuous knowledge under a solid pedagogical training.
