Abstract
GRANDES PADILLA, Alejandro Sebastián et al. Surgical treatmen of pressure injuries in bedridden patients. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.1, e501035. Epub Nov 18, 2024. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.11111757.
The medical care of bedridden patients with pressure injuries represents a significant clinical challenge, requiring a comprehensive and personalized approach to their treatment. This literature review aims to examine and summarize the current evidence on surgical options in the management of these lesions, in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of their efficacy, complications, and long-term outcomes. Given the complexity of pressure injuries and the diversity of factors that influence their development and treatment, it is critical to have a solid evidence base to guide clinical decisions. In this regard, the methodological approach proposed by PRISMA will be used to ensure rigor and transparency in the collection and presentation of information. Relevant aspects such as the demographic distribution of affected patients will be addressed, highlighting gender and age differences that may influence the response to treatment. Likewise, the available surgical options will be analyzed, with emphasis on the most commonly used flap designs and their suitability in different clinical scenarios. This review seeks to contribute to the development of best clinical practices and improve the quality of life of patients affected by pressure injuries, providing healthcare professionals with an up-to-date, evidence-based understanding of available surgical strategies.
