VILLAO RODRIGUEZ, Alejandro; YAGUANA TORRES, Jimmy e LARA ARRIAGA, Silvia. Characterization of the current state of skill development in obstetric emergency care in medical international students. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.1, e501050. Epub 05-Dez-2024. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.11373042.
The present research was carried out with the objective of exploring the characterization of the current state of skills development in obstetric emergency care in medical internship students. Through a quantitative approach that included interviews and content analysis, we sought to understand the challenges and opportunities in the training of future physicians in this crucial field of medicine. Through its conduct, it was identified that students who had access to practical opportunities, such as clinical rotations and simulation sessions, felt more prepared and confident in handling obstetric emergency situations. On the other hand, those with limited exposure to clinical practice expressed greater anxiety and concern about their readiness to deal with these situations in practice. The integration of the quantitative research approach revealed a more complete understanding of the factors influencing the development of skills in obstetric emergency care. This allowed us to capture both the magnitude and nature of the challenges in medical education in this field. In addition, the importance of improving and strengthening the teaching and learning of these skills in the medical curriculum was highlighted.
