Information technology (IT) governance is a relatively recent topic in the context of Latin America. Despite this, it has proven to have a well-defined process and specific components that allow organizations to gain a competitive advantage effectively. Under this premise, the objective of this research is to determine the importance of government management of information technologies in the Latin American context. To this end, a review of bibliographic sources with information on the management of information technology by governments in the Latin American context was carried out, taking as the main frame of reference the ICT management models implemented in Latin America. The results showed the importance of ICT governance management in the Latin American context, and ultimately, the management models in several Latin American countries are compared. Broadly speaking, IT governance management plays an important role in driving project success and information value creation.
