Abstract

ESPINOZA BRAVO, María Gabriela; CABEZAS CABEZAS, Roberto Fernando; LEON SINCHE, Julio Cesar  and  NAVA ORE GARRO, Jorge Enrique. Virtual reality application for educational simulations in third-level students: an innovative approach in experiential learning. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.1, e501062.  Epub Dec 05, 2024. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.11492464.

In today's digital age, virtual reality is emerging as a potentially transformative tool in education, offering immersive experiences and innovative learning opportunities. The objective of the research is to analyze the effectiveness of the application of virtual reality for educational simulations in third-level students. The methodological approach is quantitative to analyze the respondents' perception of the usefulness and effectiveness of virtual reality in the educational field. Statistical measures will be used to assess the association between responses to questions related to the perception of virtual reality and its application in the learning process. The results, the survey revealed that 36% of students agreed or strongly agreed with the statement that virtual reality could improve their understanding of theoretical concepts. It also showed a lack of significant association between respondents' responses, with an approximate significance value of 0.507 for symmetric measures such as Phi, Cramer's V, and Contingency Coefficient. In conclusion, students' perception of virtual reality in the educational field is diverse and variable. While some students rate positively its potential to improve learning, others show distrust or concerns about its effectiveness. This highlights the need to address individual and contextual differences when implementing virtual reality in education.
