GONZALEZ GOMEZ, Valeria Michell; LEON SANCHEZ, Jhonny Christopher; ANDALUZ LOPEZ, Brigithe Nicole  e  QUINONEZ ALARCON, Keiko Dayan. Treatment of Acute Bacterial Meningitis (MBA). Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.1, e501068.  Epub 05-Dez-2024. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.11647884.

Bacterial meningitis is an acute inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord, caused by bacterial infections and can be serious. Most infected patients do not present with the classic triad of fever, neck stiffness, and change in mental status. Several factors affect the occurrence of symptoms, including the patient's microorganism, age, and immunity. The clinician faces a challenge in diagnosing and treating a medical emergency in a timely manner. Meningitis remains a significant cause of death and disease. Doctors must be diligent in investigating and treating meningitis. The choice of initial treatment depends on factors that the doctor evaluates to attack the suspicious bacteria. The aim of this study is to know the current treatment of acute bacterial meningitis. In this bibliographic review, different databases were used to obtain the compilation of scientific articles published to date, such as Scopus, Scielo, Medline, Pubmed and Latindex. The selection criteria were those articles that have been published in the last 5 years, those that talk about the treatment of acute bacterial meningitis at present. We analysed approximately 10 articles where we found studies that collect information about the treatment in question.
