ORTIZ MOYA, Nury Gabriela et al. Impact of Diversity and Inclusion on Academic Performance in Higher Education. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.1, e501091.  Epub Dec 11, 2024. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.12639443.

Globally, it has been shown that the effective implementation of diversity and inclusion policies in higher education institutions can improve academic performance and student satisfaction. The objective of the research is: To analyze the impact of diversity and inclusion on the academic performance of higher education students in Ecuador. The research approach is quantitative, the type of research is descriptive-correlational. Descriptive research will allow characterizing the profile of students in terms of diversity and inclusion, while correlational research will seek to identify and analyze the relationship between these factors and academic performance; The research design is non-experimental and cross-sectional, and a questionnaire was applied to higher education students who had some type of disability. The sample consisted of 100 students. The data show a relationship between the perception of feeling valued and respected in the institution and the perception of the effectiveness of inclusion policies. On promoting diversity and inclusion, 23% of respondents agree, while 26% disagree and 28% strongly disagree. Pearson's Chi-square value was 134.911 with 16 degrees of freedom, indicating statistical significance with a p-value < 0.001. This suggests that there is a significant association between the variables analyzed. The findings of this study align with Bourdieu's theory of cultural capital and Honneth's theory of recognition.

Keywords : diversity; educational inclusion; disability.
