Abstract

ORIHUELA DE LA CRUZ, Carmen Rosa. Strategies for mathematical problem-solving in students: a systematic review. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.1, e501094.  Epub Dec 11, 2024. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.12659918.

The main objective of this systematic review is to analyze mathematical problem-solving strategies in students in a precise and exhaustive manner. To carry out this study, a bibliographic review of studies published between 2019 and 2023 in national and international journals indexed in databases such as Scopus, Scielo and Dialnet, among others, was carried out. The literature review provided access to theoretical postulates about problem solving, as well as research that explored specific strategies related to logical thinking and students' previous experiences in their daily lives. The results show that mathematical problem solving requires students to use their reading skills based on their own data. In addition, the importance of proposing a solution and achieving success was determined, and then the solution was analyzed. Overall, this study emphasizes that teachers should focus on problem-solving and develop strategies that encourage students to think critically.

Keywords : mathematical problem solving; logical thinking; strategies.
