GAMBOA RISGO, José Justidiano. Factors associated with research competencies of basic education teachers. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.2, e502013. Epub Feb 15, 2025. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.12774552.
Research skills are essential to guarantee continuous improvement and professional development in any field. In countries with greater investments, special emphasis is given to research to ensure the progress of their educational and economic systems. In this context, the objective of this study was to determine the associated factors that affect the development of research competencies in basic education teachers. The study was carried out using a quantitative approach and a non-experimental research design. The sample was made up of 110 teachers selected in a non-probabilistic manner from a total of 130. A questionnaire was applied to collect the necessary data. The results revealed that the factors that most influence the development of investigative skills are the gender of the teacher, continuous training and length of service. These findings suggest the need to promote continuous teacher training, provide job stability through appointment, and encourage improvement of teaching practice through research. It is important to recognize that both the gender of the teacher and their training and professional experience play a significant role in the development of research skills. Therefore, it is crucial to implement strategies and policies that support the growth and strengthening of these competencies in basic education teachers.
