PALACIOS GRACIA, Rafael Enrique; LUCIO GALEAS, Jaqueline Lizbeth; VILLEGAS MENDOZA, Verónica Mayte y CASTRO CAICEDO, Alisson Geomara. Post-surgical infections in hip replacements: a systematic review. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.2, e502016. Epub 15-Feb-2025. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.12789100.
In the last decade, post-surgical infections in hip prostheses have emerged as a significant problem in orthopedic practice. This bibliographic review under the PRISMA method focuses on research published between 2002 and 2022, covering scientific articles and theses available in institutional repositories in English and Spanish, as well as open access documents. We identified and analyzed 30 studies that revealed a diversity of methodological approaches, including descriptive studies and systematic reviews. The findings highlight the complexity of these infections, evidencing both advances in preventive techniques and effective treatments, as well as critical areas that demand substantial improvements to reduce incidence and improve long-term clinical outcomes. This review underscores the continued need for research and development of innovative strategies to address this persistent challenge in modern orthopedics.
Palabras clave : postsurgical infection; hip prosthesis; treatment.
