DONOSO LASCANO, Giovanna Monserrath; INDACOCHEA MENDOZA, Luis René; ALTAMIRANO PAZMINO, Eulalia Catalina  and  MELO COLOMA, María Verónica. Analysis of the development of executive functions in academic performance in middle school students. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.2, e502023.  Epub Feb 15, 2025. The term executive functions in an educational setting refers to the cognitive skills that allow the exercise of effective control over adaptive behavior in response to challenges and stimuli that occur in pedagogical environments. These skills have been carefully examined through a number of studies and play an important role in achieving academic performance. The main objective of the information presented lies in the analysis of the executive functions and academic achievements of the students of the middle sublevel of the Doctor Benigno Malo Educational Unit. The investigative procedure uses a neuropsychological assessment of executive functions in children (ENFEN). A non-experimental design was chosen. Identifying patterns and trends in the data was a crucial component of the descriptive design. In this case, the objective was to understand how certain executive function profiles relate to specific academic performance patterns in the student population. The results support the premise that an improvement in students' academic performance translates into stronger development of executive functions.
