MARCILLO, Cecilia del Carmen; BAUZ VEINTIMILLA, Alejandra Saraí; CIFUENTES TIPANTAXI, Sofía Belén  and  VENEGAS CUEVA, Ailén. School Bullying as a risk factor for the emotional health of basic education students. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.2, e502036.  Epub Feb 15, 2025. Talking about the different manifestations that revolve around bullying and the emotional imbalance that it generates due to the difference in power between the victim and the perpetrator, led to the realization of this research whose general objective was to establish the risk that the situation of bullying generates in the emotional health of students from three educational institutions. The sample was made up of 317 participants from 8th, 9th and 10th grades of Basic General Education, whose ages ranged from 12 to 14 years. To this end, a quantitative methodology was used, descriptive, cross-sectional, with a non-probabilistic sample with students from three schools, one public and two privates, to whom the Beck Levels of Hopelessness test and the School Bullying and Violence Scale were applied. The results indicated that school bullying is a risk factor for the emotional and mental health of student victims, and in this behavior, family bases play an important role in the acquisition of coping strategies. It is concluded that, although the intensity of harassment varies between relatively, little and many times, according to the results, it does not mean that violence is not printed, since violence, whether it is against a single person or a small group of people, continues to be violence and when the intensity of it increases, it can become a very serious emotional and public health problem.

Keywords : bullying; emotional and mental health; helplessness.
