Abstract

TOLEDO QUINONES, Ricardo Enrique; NORABUENA MENDOZA, César Hernán; ROBLES ESPINOZA, Reyna Edelina  and  FIGUEROA QUITO, Silvia Isabel. Optimism and economic situation: deciphering their relationship in future administration and tourism professional. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.2, e502037.  Epub Feb 15, 2025. The research, of a correlational type, aimed to determine the relationship between optimism and the economic situation of university students. A total of 248 students were surveyed, selected by simple random sampling from a total population of 698, with a confidence level of 95%. The research in the analysis of the relationship of five dimensions of optimism with the economic situation of the student, establishes that general, academic and social optimism have a direct non-significant relationship, since they are associated with values for their significance of 0.154, 0.122 and 0.063 (p > 0.05) respectively. In addition, it has been observed that vocational optimism, resilience and coping have a direct and significant relationship with values of 0.003, 0.019 and 0.002 (p < 0.05). Although the School of Tourism, compared to Administration, shows higher levels of optimism, statistically it is observed that "integral optimism" is similar in both Schools. The analysis shows a significant association between the combined measure of the five dimensions, called "comprehensive optimism" in the study, and the student's economic situation; The calculated significance value of 0.002 (p < 0.05) indicates a direct relationship between these two variables.

Keywords : optimism; economic situation; professional school.
