Resumen

LEON SINCHE, Julio Cesar; MORA NARANJO, Blanca Maribel  y  CHICO GUZMAN, Bryan Alexander. Participatory research methods to improve university teaching practice. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.2, e502038.  Epub 15-Feb-2025. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.13258398.

Participatory research methods offer a viable solution to address challenges in higher education. By fostering active collaboration between the various actors in the education community, these methods allow not only a more accurate understanding of local needs and problems, but also the development of solutions that are more relevant and sustainable. The objective of the research is to analyze participatory research methods that involve students, professors and university communities in the identification of problems and the implementation of solutions to improve educational practice in universities in Ecuador. The methodology of this research is participatory, accompanied by the quantitative approach, because it is integrated into the design and application of the survey, ensuring that 100 university professors have an active role in the research. The most important results of the research indicate a significant disconnect between theoretical familiarity with participatory research methods and their practical application in education. Although many participants are familiar with these methods, this theoretical understanding does not translate into effective implementation in their educational practices. The main barriers identified include lack of time, insufficient resources and administrative burdens, which limit the application of these methods. In addition, the analysis highlights the importance of the educational context and institutional support in the adoption of participatory methods. It is recommended that future research focus on the development of practical interventions adapted to different educational contexts to overcome these barriers and improve the implementation of participatory methods in education.

Palabras clave : participatory methods; educational practices; theoretical familiarity.
