The study presented is derived from an investigation with the purpose of determining the relationship between the teaching materials used and the academic performance of primary students in various public schools in Quito, Ecuador, specifically at the fifth to seventh educational levels. basic. For this purpose, a quantitative approach was used from a descriptive-correlational, non-experimental, transversal typology, taking as a sample 100 primary education students at educational levels from fifth to seventh grade from public educational institutions along with 30 teachers, whom the survey was administered through structured questionnaires and academic performance tests that obtained adequate statistical reliability according to Crombach's Alpha calculation. The results reveal that the majority of students consider manipulative materials effective for understanding complex concepts, and that a variety of teaching materials can improve academic performance, although opinions were divided on whether current materials meet the requirements. educational objectives of the curriculum, whether they are sufficient and whether the digital resources are effective. Chi-square analyzes suggest that there are no significant associations between the different types of educational materials, highlighting the need to adapt and improve the provision of educational resources to meet the needs and expectations of students, as well as the types of materials and its influence on learning and academic performance.
