The objective of the study presented focused on analyzing the relationship between socioeconomic level, family environment and social support with the academic performance of students from public universities in Ecuador, through a methodology with a quantitative approach for the collection and the analysis of numerical data with the interest of identifying patterns and relationships between the study variables, addressing a sample of 150 third level students enrolled in public and private universities in Ecuador, to whom a questionnaire of closed questions was applied. Among the results, 40% of those surveyed feel that their family income is not enough to cover all basic needs, while 38% consider that it is, although to a lesser extent. Access to additional educational resources is equally distributed between "totally disagree" and "totally agree" with 21% in each option, while 44% perceive economic instability due to their parents' occupation. A group of respondents (42%) perceive good emotional family support, and 41% have an adequate study environment, to which is added the involvement of parents in education, which is perceived positively by 42% of the population; however, satisfaction with academic performance is moderate. As for the Phi value, it was 0.372, suggesting a moderate relationship between the variables, although not necessarily causal, and the approximate significance is 0.190, greater than the common threshold of 0.05, so the relationship is not statistically significant.
