Abstract

VELEZ ARROYAVE, Carlos Andrés. Model for improving literacy through a virtual environment with collaborative games in public schools. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.2, e502063.  Epub Mar 13, 2025. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.13774413.

This article aimed to validate the effectiveness of a digital collaborative game-based learning model to enhance literacy competencies among fifth-grade primary school students. The employed methodology was mixed-methods, combining a quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest assessments, alongside semi-structured interviews with teachers and students. The results indicated that, although students showed improvements in reading comprehension and creativity in writing, there are persistent deficiencies in active participation and the formulation of argumentative responses. The interviews revealed resistance to the use of innovative digital tools by teachers. In conclusion, the pedagogical model based on digital collaborative games has proven effective in increasing interest and motivation in learning, though there is a need to strengthen competencies in written expression and critical text comprehension.
