Abstract

KUONG CUELLAR, Maria Asunta  and  CHAPARRO KUONG, Jorge Jesús. Digital competencies and technological inclusion in older adults: a systematic review. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.2, e502076.  Epub Mar 17, 2025. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.13851765.

The research presents a systematic review of studies related to digital competencies and the adoption of digital technologies by older adults. The objective of the study is to describe the theories, characteristics and importance of these competencies in this demographic group. Using a descriptive design, bibliometric indicators were analyzed through a qualitative approach, considering research up to five years old. The selection of studies was carried out following the PRISMA method, based on an initial search that yielded 329 results, of which 22 were included in the analysis. The findings highlight the urgent need for older adults to acquire skills in the use of digital tools and platforms. It is concluded that the knowledge, information, data and experiences derived from these digital tools underscore the importance of active participation of older adults through technological practice and intergenerational interaction.
