Abstract

VELASTEGUI RAMOS, Karen Andrea et al. Invisalign dental treatment for adult patients. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.3, e050311.  Epub Mar 10, 2025. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14029060.

Thermoplastic appliances were introduced into the field of orthodontics by the renowned researcher Kesling in 1945. Since that time, these appliances have undergone various modifications and improvements over time. In this context, several authors have suggested the thermoplastic aligner technique as an alternative option for orthodontic treatment. The innovative clear aligner system, known as Invisalign, which has gained popularity and developed significantly in recent years thanks to the efforts of Align Technology Inc. has revolutionized the way many people approach orthodontic treatment. In 1997, it was introduced as an innovative, feasible and proven effective treatment option to address and correct the various dental malocclusions that can affect patients' oral health. The objective of this treatment focuses on providing general dentists with a tool that allows them to efficiently and easily care for patients with malocclusion problems. In the present systematic review, different databases were used to obtain a compilation of scientific articles published to date, such as Scopus, Scielo, Medline, Pubmed and Latindex. The selection criteria were those articles that have been published in the last few years up to the present date, those that speak of Invisalign treatment at the present time. Fourteen articles were analyzed where studies were found that compile information on the treatment in question.

Keywords : orthodontics with Invisalign; oral treatment; innovative system.
