ESQUEN MEZA, Karol Gisela; CAYETANO URBANO, Yackeline Sofia  e  RAMIREZ-VEGA, Celina. Analysis of the internal structure and reliability of a short version of the event-related rumination scale in young people in Peru. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.3, e050313.  Epub 10-Mar-2025. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14051510.

The mental health of young university students is of paramount importance in today's society, as various events can trigger rumination, affecting their emotional well-being and academic performance. This study focuses on analyzing the Abbreviated Scale of Event-Related Rumination (ERRI) in Peruvian university students. Content validity, internal structure validity through confirmatory factor analysis, and reliability through omega coefficient are assessed. The results reveal solid psychometric properties of the abbreviated ERRI, with satisfactory fit indices: CFI=.98, TLI=.98, SRMR=.03, and adequate reliability for both the intrusive rumination dimension (ꞷ=.93) and the deliberate rumination dimension (ꞷ=.87). Finally, the utility of the abbreviated ERRI is emphasized as a tool for understanding and addressing event-related rumination, providing a precise and reliable measure for Peruvian university students.

Palavras-chave : peruvian youth; deliberate rumination; intrusive rumination.
