AGUADO MALDONADO, Natalia María. Soft skills for sustainable development in higher education. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.3, e050323.  Epub 11-Mar-2025. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14212747.

This study sought to understand how university students' soft skills influence their perception of sustainable development. To do so, 152 students of environmental and systems engineering from two universities were surveyed. The results showed a positive, albeit weak, relationship between both variables. This suggests that, although soft skills are important to foster sustainable development, there is still much to be done. It is concluded that these skills must be promoted and strengthened both in universities and in organizations, and that the government should have a leading role in this task. The research was based on reliable instruments validated by experts. The study found that soft skills are related to the understanding of sustainable development in university students, but this relationship is still weak. It is recommended to strengthen these skills in higher education and in other areas.

Palavras-chave : soft skills; sustainable development; higher education.
