CJUIRO MATEUS, Salustio; SORIA PEREZ, Yolanda Felicitas  e  SANCHEZ LOAYZA, Herbert. Voices of the community and the police: Qualitative analysis of preventive citizen security programs. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.3, e050344.  Epub 29-Mar-2025. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14270961.

The purpose of the study was to analyze the perception and experiences of those involved in the preventive citizen security program in the district of Chorrillos. The qualitative phenomenological-interpretative approach made it possible to delve into the experiences and experiences of those involved in the preventive citizen security programs. Twelve key actors of the program participated, including experts, police personnel and citizen representatives, through semi-structured interviews conducted in person. All participants previously expressed their willingness to participate through informed consent, thus complying with the principle of autonomy. The findings reveal that the representatives of the preventive programs positively value the preventive citizen security programs with some challenges. The implementation of the “Juntas vecinales” program is important for crime prevention; through rapid communication it contributes to community vigilance, likewise, the “Red de cooperantes” has been strengthened through trainings allowing the identification of criminal activities. In the school environment, the School Self-Protection Brigades (BAPES), with the participation of parents, have had a relevant impact on crime prevention, achieving a decrease in crime incidences. However, there are challenges related to the sustainability of the strategies and logistical resources for these programs.
