Resumen

FRETEL QUIROZ, Nicolás Magno et al. Trends in the use of social networks among university students in an Andean institution in Peru. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.3, e050353.  Epub 14-Abr-2025. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14483740.

This study aimed to identify trends in the use of social networks among university students of an educational institution in the Andean region of Peru. The research was developed under a non-experimental design, analyzing the variable in its natural context without intervention by the research team. A transversal, prospective and descriptive approach was used. The population included the 1,258 students enrolled in the 2024-I semester, and a sample of 300 participants was selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. To collect data, a survey was used, applying a questionnaire specifically designed to evaluate the use of social networks. The results indicated that 51.0% of the participants (153) presented moderate use of social networks, 44.0% (132) registered low use, and only 5.0% (15) showed high use. These findings reflect a predominant trend toward moderate use, suggesting that although social media is integrated into students' lives, its impact varies depending on individual habits. In conclusion, the use of social networks in this context poses both opportunities and challenges. Understanding these trends is essential to develop strategies that promote responsible and balanced use, enhancing educational and social benefits while mitigating associated risks.
