Abstract

GUAMAN LLONGO, Luis Guillermo  and  MACIAS VILELA, Diana Carolina. The impact of unemployment as a deterioration of post-pandemic socio-labor conditions. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.3, e050383.  Epub May 15, 2025. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14549492.

This article provides an analysis of socioeconomic conditions in Ecuador. Once the pandemic was over, labor conditions deteriorated. As there were productive limitations, many people lost their jobs, giving rise to the option for the informal sector, since they did not have economic support from financial institutions, which, seeing the lack of liquidity and solvency, remained on the sidelines to provide the necessary economic incentive to transform the disastrous scenario left by the post-pandemic. The methodology was based on documentary research using databases from the National Institute of Statistics and Census of Ecuador (INEC) and the National Survey of Employment, Unemployment and Underemployment (ENEMDU). It is concluded that, in socioeconomic matters, the desire and initiative of microentrepreneurs to move forward after the crisis is not enough; there must also be more support through policies that encourage the reactivation of the productive and business sector to achieve greater dynamism in income generation.

Keywords : unemployment; social and labor conditions; post-pandemic.
