TORRES TOAPANTA, Shirley Michelle; AGUALONGO TAPIA, Edison Eduardo; ALARCON RAMOS, Gina Yesenia  e  ESPINOZA BRAVO, María Gabriela. Technological distractors in the domain of oral communication in secondary school students. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.3, e050388.  Epub 19-Maio-2025. The main objective of the study is to analyze technological devices, especially cell phones and social networks, in relation to the development of oral communication among eighth grade students of General Basic Education (EGB) in an educational institution in Guayaquil. The research identifies electronic devices as the main distracters that affect academic performance and oral expression skills of students, promoting disconnection with traditional teaching-learning processes. A non-experimental methodological design is proposed, with a quantitative and descriptive approach, using surveys with closed questions and applying the Likert scale to evaluate the perception of students and teachers on the use of electronic devices in the classroom. The study will be developed with a sample of 49 participants, including students and teachers of the mentioned educational institution. The research proposes strategies to reduce the use of mobile devices in the educational context and to promote oral communication as an essential skill for academic and personal development. These strategies include the implementation of campaigns such as “Communicative Schools”, aimed at promoting face-to-face interactions and activities that strengthen communication skills, thus limiting the negative effects of the misuse of technology. The study seeks to offer a detailed analysis of the impact of technological distractions in education, proposing pedagogical interventions that balance the use of technology with the development of effective communication skills, essential in the integral formation of students.
