Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the influence of music therapy on the cognitive development of children at the Elvira García y García early childhood educational institution, located in the district of Chaupimarca, Pasco, Peru. It specifically focused on the areas of memory, reasoning, and problem-solving. The research was based on the scientific method to identify the issue and draw informed conclusions. Additionally, experimental, hypothetical, and deductive methods were employed, guiding the design of the study, which was applied in nature, with an explanatory level and a quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of 50 children, divided into two groups evaluated at different times. Data collection utilized observation techniques, using a checklist composed of 20 items. The results showed significant improvements in the cognitive development of the participants after the music therapy intervention, with a statistically significant level of t-Student = 0.001 < α = 0.05. In conclusion, music therapy has a positive and significant influence on the cognitive development of the children included in this study.
