Education offers possibilities for a better life for human beings. However, in the Peruvian context, several factors impede this vision. In this sense, society, especially the marginal classes, loses interest in studying because they do not benefit from education, so they do not study responsibly, but for formality. The present research aims to describe the perspectives on instruction of high school students from a state school in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, Peru. It is a quantitative, descriptive study that collects the thoughts expressed by 474 regular students and class attendants. The study of the cards ratifies that the education provided in the classroom, in spite of the number of failed grades, and the little interest shown by the students in developing the competencies of each course, together with the multiple facilities provided by the State to pass to the next grade, continues to be important, according to the students' answers, for their academic future. It is concluded that the expectation in education continues to be relevant for students of a public institution in the search for a promising future.
