Education in both schools and universities must respond to the changing world, where all scenarios of human social behavior have undergone transformations due to multiple factors, mainly technological ones; the development of creative thinking is essential because it allows in various aspects to make assertive decisions in challenging situations. The purpose of this research was to describe innovative strategies and creative thinking in basic and higher education through a systematic review, taking as a reference the Scopus, WOS and Scielo databases. The systematization of the information made it possible to establish two emerging categories regarding the trends demanded by creative thinking. As a conclusion, it is observed that creative thinking must be exposed to challenges and propose ideas that will last over time; likewise, categories such as technologies, the use of AI and digital tools will provide guidelines in the future to improve creativity.
