Abstract
CAVERO TORRES, Juan Javier and MARINO TENIO, Belinda Robertina. Diagnosis in sanitation systems from disaster risk management: a systematic review. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.3, e050371. Epub May 15, 2025. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14532819.
The infrastructure of sanitation systems is prone to damage due to natural phenomena such as hurricanes, earthquakes, the El Niño phenomenon and climate change. Therefore, actions to diagnose the conditions of sanitation systems and to identify the existing risk would undoubtedly reduce the risk of collapse, so preventive or corrective maintenance is necessary, making the sanitation system more resistant to support the onslaught of nature. Hence, this article proposes to conduct a systematic review on the diagnosis of sanitation systems for disaster risk management, using the PRISMA protocol, in order to address the various scientific papers in a period from 2020 to 2024, whose databases for the search were Scielo and Google Scholar, from which 21 articles and representative works were selected according to the inclusion criteria. Among the findings, it is highlighted that most of the diagnoses show that the drinking water and sewerage systems are not in optimal conditions to maintain the drinking water and sewerage systems. These results lead to the conclusion that disaster risk management significantly reduces damage to sanitation systems, which are critical sanitary structures for the health and hygiene of a nation's populations.
