DIAZ ROJAS, Nelber; JIMENEZ MAIRENA, Mauricio Eduardo e LEONARD COLLANTES, Armin Omar. Knowledge management and its impact on higher education institutions: a systematic review. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.3, e050396. Epub 25-Maio-2025. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14618990.
The main objective of the article is to analyze the creation and continuous use of new knowledge within institutions, highlighting quality improvements linked to research and competitive innovation. Methodologically, a descriptive and narrative qualitative approach was used, based on a review of international articles from countries such as China, the United States, Chile and Spain. The most relevant texts were selected using the PRISMA method. Among the outstanding results, it was found that the scientific journals with the greatest presence in the field of knowledge management (KM) in education are Scopus (51.80%) and SciELO (10.16%), reflecting the authors' preference for these platforms. Likewise, the countries with the highest scientific production on this topic are Brazil, Spain, Cuba and Colombia. Finally, it is emphasized that knowledge is the most valuable resource for higher education institutions (HEIs). Therefore, their teachers must continuously generate, propose and acquire new knowledge in order to maintain innovation and academic competitiveness.
