The study focuses on didactic strategies based on the Van Hiele model for the teaching of quadrilaterals. It reflects on the importance of studying geometry and its meaning in modern society. This analysis also allows us to examine the difficulties encountered in teaching and learning geometry. The objective was to identify didactic strategies based on the Van Hiele model to improve the teaching of quadrilaterals to seventh grade students. The approach applied in this research was mixed, using the analytical-descriptive method as a guide. The sample included 12 7th grade students from the Jaime Roldós Aguilera school, located in the Los Ceibitos precinct, belonging to the Colonche parish, in the province of Santa Elena. A survey was administered to these students, while an interview was conducted with the teachers of these two grades. The processing and analysis of the results showed that teachers should apply didactic strategies that awaken the students' interest in studying geometry and, in particular, the subject of quadrilaterals, since, according to the children, this is a complicated subject.
