Abstract

VELASQUEZ DIAZ, Walter Segundo. Challenges of formative assessment in secondary school students in recent years. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.4, e504038.  Epub June 12, 2025. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14783824.

Formative assessment and its application in the classroom is a current trend in education, where teachers face the challenge of applying it in an adequate way to evaluate their students. This is a challenge considering the lack of knowledge on the subject. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore the challenges of formative assessment in high school students in recent years, to analyze the situation in our country and in other countries, to examine how different authors perceive formative assessment, to identify the aspects that stand out in this practice and to recognize its limitations. The methodology followed was a bibliographic review of publications in databases such as Scopus, SciELO, WoS, Dialnet and EBSCO. The conclusions highlighted that the various studies consider formative assessment as a key tool for the achievement of learning and the development of competencies, highlighting formative feedback as an essential part of this strategy.
