RAFAEL VARGAS, Angelica Maria. Informal settlements in urban environments: A systematic analysis between 2019 and 2023. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.4, e504040. Epub June 12, 2025. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14787862.
The global COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on living conditions and the right to the city, intensifying existing inequalities. This peer-reviewed study seeks to understand how these events have influenced research on the formation and evolution of informal settlements, as well as the responses of authorities and affected communities. For this, 38 scientific papers located in databases such as Scopus, EBSCO and ProQuest were included. In addition, the keywords for this search were: informal settlements, urban environments, living conditions, infrastructure and services. As a result, the complexity and interconnectedness of contemporary urban challenges is highlighted, as well as the relevance and visibility of urban research and social development in the international academic community. In conclusion, these findings underscore the importance of adopting integrated and collaborative approaches to address urban problems. They also highlight the need to ensure the accessibility and dissemination of research, with the aim of informing policies and practices that promote sustainable and equitable urban development at a global level.
Keywords : urban development; living conditions; sustainability.
