Pollution in Latin America has sparked a debate on the impact of environmental public policies. In this context, education is presented as a fundamental space for young people to acquire the necessary knowledge to protect natural spaces. Therefore, this study carried out a systematic review of the literature with the aim of offering a perspective on the impact of public policies in the promotion of environmental education. To do so, the PRISMA method (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) was used, which facilitated the structuring of the selection processes and allowed for a precise analysis of the articles obtained. First, the ERIC database and the Google Scholar search engine were consulted, which yielded a total of 1,339 results. Subsequently, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 articles were selected that highlighted the importance of public policies in the implementation of various student practices. Finally, after analyzing the results, it was concluded that students have a high willingness to acquire knowledge about environmental sustainability, provided that educational institutions encourage interest through teacher training, informative workshops, modifications to the study plans and the incorporation of technologies that strengthen the link between students and their environment.
