This research analyzed citizen participation in the implementation of the participatory budget in the Local Government of La Peca during the period 2016-2018. To this end, a qualitative and phenomenological approach was used, collecting information through interviews and documentary analysis. The results showed a lack of political commitment on the part of local authorities, along with deficiencies in the execution of prioritized projects. Participants expressed their discontent due to the scarce information available and the inefficient programming of activities. In conclusion, it is worth highlighting the need to improve the dissemination and transparency of the participatory process, in addition to strengthening the training and organization of the actors involved. In short, this study contributes to the understanding of the perceptions and challenges associated with the implementation of the participatory budget at the local level.
