PEREYRA ACOSTA, José Luis et al. Emotional intelligence for good academic performance in higher education. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.4, e504084. Epub 12-Jun-2025. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14920622.
Emotional intelligence and academic performance are study variables of this research, whose objective was to determine the relationship between them. The work was developed under a quantitative approach and a correlational and cross-sectional design. The sample was made up of 30 students in the fifth cycle of the Mathematics career in a state school of higher education in Cajamarca. To measure emotional intelligence, the BarOn EQ-i questionnaire was used, while data on academic performance were obtained from the consolidated semester evaluation records. The statistical analysis was performed with the SPSS version 28 program and the reliability of the instruments was high, determined by Cronbach's alpha. The results showed a positive correlation between the variables studied, indicating that emotional intelligence, in its dimensions of interpersonal emotional competence and stress control, is more strongly related to academic performance. It concludes by highlighting the importance of the development of emotional intelligence as a key factor for academic success in higher education.
