Abstract

HILARIO RIVAS, Jorge Luis; BARDALES LINARES, Richard Piero  and  BOLLET RAMIREZ, Frank. Solar Energy and Economic Sustainability in Agriculture: A Systematic Review on Its Implications for Process Improvement. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.4, e504100.  Epub June 12, 2025. The implementation of solar energy in technological equipment for shredding agricultural waste represents a crucial opportunity to achieve an improvement in the sustainability and profitability of the agricultural sector. This research focuses on analyzing the economic impact of these technologies, addressing a significant gap in the current literature. Through a systematic review article, where the PRISMA method (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) was applied, it was possible to examine twenty studies from indexed journals with an age of five years focused on aspects such as initial costs, economic benefits and barriers to adoption. The results revealed that although upfront investment costs are a hurdle, long-term benefits such as reduced costs and improved energy efficiency make solar a viable option. Likewise, economic barriers were identified, such as lack of financing and government support, which limit the adoption of the use of these technologies. The conclusions support the need for adequate incentive and financing policies to facilitate the implementation of solar energy in agriculture, highlighting its potential to significantly transform agricultural production towards more sustainable and financially viable models. This study invites future research that delves into the economic viability of solar technologies in specific agricultural environments.

Keywords : solar energy; economic impact; agricultural sustainability.
