The purpose of this study was to analyze coping and adaptation factors in parents of hospitalized children at Barranca Hospital. The study was conducted using a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional design, with a descriptive and correlational approach. The sample consisted of 50 parents whose children were admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Data collection involved a questionnaire designed to assess coping and adaptation strategies, which was previously validated by expert judgment. The results revealed that 60% of parents displayed high coping and adaptation skills, while 38% achieved very high levels in these skills. Among the most significant factors for coping were emotional resilience, the use of family and social resources, and emotional regulation strategies. Furthermore, it was observed that some parents with average skills in areas such as physical reactions and the alert process could benefit from additional interventions focused on stress management. In conclusion, it is recommended that the hospital implement programs aimed at strengthening coping and adaptation factors in parents. These programs should include emotional support and specific training, with the goal of improving parents' overall well-being during their children's hospitalization.
