Abstract
YOMONA DE ALCALDE, Katia Ormeño; NINA-CUCHILLO, Josué and SANCHEZ AGUIRRE, Flor de María. Impact of public procurement on project management in Latin America: a systematic review. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.4, e504112. Epub June 25, 2025. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15091135.
Public procurement is an essential element in project management, as it ensures efficiency, transparency, and sustainability in the use of public resources. In this context, the main objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of public procurement on project management in Latin America. To achieve this, a systematic review was conducted using the PRISMA method. For this purpose, the Scopus, Web of Science, and Scielo databases were consulted, applying previously defined inclusion and exclusion criteria and considering studies published between 2020 and 2024. Initially, 3,476 articles were identified, of which 23 were ultimately selected for further analysis. It was determined that public procurement can optimize project management, although it faces significant challenges such as bureaucracy and institutional deficiencies. The implementation of digital technologies and the adoption of sustainable practices are essential to improve this process. However, institutional fragmentation hinders necessary reforms. Therefore, it is crucial to strengthen administrative capacities, improve oversight, and foster cooperation between the public and private sectors.
Keywords : public administration; contracting; project management.
