The objective of this study was to carry out a bibliometric analysis on the learning of reading and writing at the initial level, taking advantage of the data extracted from Scopus between 2004 and 2024. To carry out the analysis of the academic works, bibliometric analysis was used as the main method. After a search in Scopus using the keywords "reading and writing" and "initial level", 133 papers were selected for the study. Among all the years that the growth of scientific production was promoted, the most outstanding was the one between 2020 and 2023, with 47 academic works (35.3% of the total), with the United States being one of the most notorious nations, with 28.7%, while the most relevant source of publication, with (n=7) documents, It was And Writing and of all the authors, Petscher obtained the highest number of citations (64) in his two essays. Of the total number of documents, it was identified that 88% were scientific articles, where 39% belonged to the field of social sciences and 20% to psychology. This concludes that the area of first-level literacy learning has advanced, with a wider selection of topics covered, more recognized authors, and vital data available. As a result, the study lays a foundation for future research.
