The present study aimed to develop a bibliometric network approach on phonological awareness in reading learning at the initial level between 2004 and 2024. Bibliometric analysis was the main method used to examine the academic data included in this research. The search was carried out using the following keywords in English in Scopus: "phonological awareness", "reading learning" and "early level", in which 397 papers were selected for research. In the expansion of scientific production during the years 2018 and 2023, 127 (32%) academic papers were presented, where the United States stood out with a participation of 24%. On the other hand, the most relevant source of publication, with 31 documents, was Reading And Writing and of all the authors, Hulme, C. obtained the highest number of citations (1620), in his twelve works. Of the total number of documents, 93% were scientific articles, including 33% in the field of social sciences and 29% in psychology. This concludes that research on phonological awareness in early reading instruction has advanced thanks to a more diverse range of topics addressed, the participation of more authors, and the availability of vital data. This allows the study to be useful for future research in this field.
