Abstract
SANTILLAN MOLINA DE VALDIVIA, Maritza Brizaida; GARAY JUIPA, Raquel; OYOLA CANTO, María Santos and ALBINO ACUNA DE CADEMA, Magaly Susana. Importance of formative assessment in elementary school students: an analysis of scientific production in Scopus. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.4, e504006. Epub June 12, 2025. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14835148.
The objective of the study is to carry out an analysis of the scientific production in Scopus with respect to the importance of formative assessment in primary school students, from 2000 to 2024. To this end, bibliometric analysis was used as a methodology and to generate the indicators of scientific production, data from 139 publications analyzed in Scopus were selected from the following keywords in English: formative AND assessment and primary AND school AND Children. In addition, the results show an 80.6% increase in papers published between 2013 and 2023 in relation to this topic, with the United States being the country with the highest production of scientific articles, with 45.8%, while the Journal of Chemical Education was positioned as the source with the most publications (n = 5) and the main author Faber, J. (n=143), was the most cited academic. Finally, it is evident that the field of social sciences represents 57% of the total number of documents published. This concludes that research on the importance of formative assessment in primary school students is experiencing a dynamic development thanks to collaboration between authors and countries, institutional links, diversity of publication sources and readily available resources. In this way, the bibliometric study can serve as a basis for research of this type in the future.
Keywords : formative; primary; bibliometric evaluation.
