Abstract

CAMUS CHASQUIBOL, Jaime. Strategic prospective planning for economic development: A systematic review. Revista InveCom [online]. 2025, vol.5, n.4, e504030.  Epub June 20, 2025. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14816462.

Strategic foresight planning and economic development address the problems faced by urban and modern districts settled in various regions, ensuring an adequate organization of their territories. The objective of this article is to analyze how strategic prospective planning contributes to the economic development of an urban or rural district in Latin America and in the world. The research, of the systematic review type, focuses on the theoretical and methodological exploration of the state of the art of strategic prospective planning and economic development. To do this, the PRISMA method was used, using databases such as Scopus, Science Direct, Web of Science and Scielo, where 1,537 research papers were identified, of which 20 articles were selected. The results show that, in most countries and regions, strategic foresight planning is closely linked to the economic development of a given area. In conclusion, it is recommended that local, regional and national governments implement strategic foresight planning as a tool to achieve economic development.

Keywords : strategic prospective planning; economic development; territorial organization.
