Resumen
LOPEZ HELGUERO, Mary y AGUIRRE COELLO, José Eduardo. Environmental education in primary school students: A systematic review. Revista InveCom [online]. 2026, vol.6, n.1, e601041. Epub 15-Jul-2025. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15354213.
Environmental education has a positive impact on the environmental awareness of elementary school students, promoting sustainable and responsible attitudes. In this context, this systematic review identifies the main approaches researched in environmental education, such as playful processes, ecology, sustainability, and pro-environmental behavior change. To this end, the PRISMA method was applied and 20 articles were selected from databases such as Scopus, Scielo, Redalyc, and Web of Science. The research questions focused on the most frequently analyzed aspects of environmental education, its influence on elementary school students, and the associated benefits. The results highlight the importance of integrating environmental education into the school curriculum to strengthen pro-environmental behaviors from an early age. It is concluded that environmental education improves both the environmental awareness and ecological commitment of elementary school students, promoting behavioral changes and sustainable practices. It is recommended that its implementation in teaching be strengthened to ensure a solid environmental education for future generations.
