YSLADO MENDEZ, Rosario Margarita et al. Social skills and academic performance in secondary school students in Peru. Revista InveCom [online]. 2026, vol.6, n.3, e603086. Epub 15-Dic-2025. ISSN 2739-0063. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17620168.
The main objective of the study was to determine the relationship between social skills and academic performance in secondary school students at a public educational institution located in an Andean region of Peru. The research had a quantitative approach, was basic in nature, and employed a cross-sectional and descriptive-correlational design. The sample consisted of 113 students, who were given a survey and a social skills questionnaire. Among the main results, it was found that the students predominantly had average social skills, with a score of 84.07%. In terms of academic performance, the majority obtained a high grade (91.15%). Regarding the relationship between the variables, a Spearman's Rho coefficient of 0.17 was found, with a significance value of 0.07. It was concluded that there is no significant relationship between academic performance and all dimensions of social skills; however, a significant relationship was found between academic performance and the dimensions of communication and decision-making.
