Citizen safety is guaranteed through the progressive use of force, which empowers the National Police to intervene and maintain public order in accordance with human rights. The objective of this article is to analyze the feasibility of a public policy on training, supervision, and allocation of logistical resources to the National Police of Ecuador, as a contribution to respect for the rights of citizen security. Theoretical and empirical methods were applied in order to collect information and analyze the subject of study. The results obtained from the interview conducted indicate the need to train the National Police's managerial and technical operational staff. It is concluded that the Ecuadorian National Police has the capacity to use force in compliance with the Ecuadorian State's commitment to maintain public order and safeguard citizens.
