Abstract
ALVAREZ-LEDESMA, Denisse Catalina; CHACON-GOMEZ, Nayibe Eloina and CASTRO-SANCHEZ, Fernando de Jesús. Blockchain as a tool for verifying data and documents enabling notarial acts in Ecuador. Noesis [online]. 2025, vol.7, n.esp1, pp.1100-1119. Epub Nov 30, 2025. ISSN 2739-0365. https://doi.org/10.35381/noesisin.v7i1.468.
This study addresses the challenge of verifying documents required for notarial acts in Ecuador's digital environment. As auxiliary bodies of the judiciary, notaries must guarantee the principles of legal certainty, effectiveness, and efficiency. The lack of a unified technological tool for this verification compromises the effectiveness and legal certainty of such acts. Through documentary analysis and semi-structured interviews, this research demonstrates that blockchain technology, due to its characteristics of immutability and transparency, complies with the constitutional principles governing public service. It concludes that implementing blockchain as a verification tool would guarantee legal certainty for both users and notaries, strengthening the integrity and reliability of the notarial process in Ecuador.
