This article analyzes transparency in the selection process for notaries public in Ecuador, a critical aspect for the integrity of legal transactions. The objective is to identify legal loopholes and propose solutions that guarantee integrity in the process. Framed within Notarial Law and Public Administration, the methodology consists of a documentary analysis of current legislation and previous studies. The findings reveal the need for legislative reforms to clarify the criteria for merit and competition for selection and reelection. It also proposes the implementation of additional mechanisms, such as background checks, and the adoption of more rigorous supervision and evaluation measures. The study concludes that strengthening the legal framework and administrative practices is crucial to increasing public confidence in the Ecuadorian notary system, underscoring the urgency of these improvements.
