Abstract

CALI-CANDO, Milton German; CHACON-GOMEZ, Nayibe Eloina  and  CASTRO-SANCHEZ, Fernando de Jesús. The role of notaries and registrars in the protection of intellectual property in Ecuador. Noesis [online]. 2025, vol.7, n.esp1, pp.1705-1723.  Epub Nov 30, 2025. ISSN 2739-0365.  https://doi.org/10.35381/noesisin.v7i1.528.

The protection of intellectual property is key to driving innovation and creativity in contemporary society. In Ecuador and Colombia, notaries and registrars play an essential role in guaranteeing the authenticity and legality of acts related to these rights, especially in a dynamic digital environment. This research analyzes the lack of clarity and effectiveness in legal and administrative procedures related to copyright, proposing strategies to strengthen legal certainty. Although current regulations in both countries establish general principles of protection, a thorough review of traditional methods is required to respond to current challenges. The study raises the need to modernize notarial and registration acts, adapting them to the digital context, in order to strengthen the protection of intellectual property and foster an ecosystem favorable to economic development and technological innovation.
